Srijan Technologies is pleased to announce the release of www.openthemagazine.com to the world. The website (currently in beta) is the online presence of OPEN Magazine, a new and exciting current affairs and features weekly from India.
Srijan was responsible for all website programming and configuration. The OPEN website was designed by Itu Chaudhuri Design. Srijan used the industry-leading, open source, Drupal 6 Content Management System (CMS) to build the website. The Drupal CMS itself uses the PHP platform.
OPEN Magazine is hosted on Srijan’s custom-configured servers.

- An eMag feature which exactly reproduces the magazine on the web
- Advanced Search features using the Apache Solr search engine (which uses Java)
- Integration with ICICI bank’s payment gateway for online subscription to the magazine

- Leverages Drupal’s simple administrative interface for easy article entry

- LAMP-based server platform hosted in the “cloud”
- Multiple-server-based architecture to balance website load and provide redundancy during failure
- Multiple levels of caching using various technologies to make a responsive website
- Intelligent expiration of content to reduce network traffic
- Use of a Content Delivery Network (CDN) to reduce server load and provide a “nearest” server for downloads
- Use of memcache, APC opcode caching and other methods/ technologies to improve website performance

Great execution there! I think the ‘little’ programmer who worked late night for this the most needs some pat in the back (and a quarterly salary raise would not hurt either)
Btw a “Subscribe to Comments” Wordpress plugin down here would be great.
