We’re working on integrating Apache Solr with TYPO3 at the moment. We had started work sometime back, and recently during a project assignment from Sweden, we realised that Apache Solr would be a best fit in this case, as there is a lot of Meta content associated with the primary search content in this portal that we’re building.
We feel institutions working in the following areas can get immense benefit from implementing Solr in their IT systems as a search and filter tool:
- Newspapers and Journals
- Lawyers
- Libraries
- Stock Photo portals
- Stock photo studios
- Advertising agencies for their stock repository
To see Solr in action (even though this is on Drupal) please visit: http://www.indiaenvironmentportal.org.in/search/apachesolr_search/. A case study of the project is available at: http://blogs.srijan.in/2008/10/10/india-environment-portal-a-case-study/.

This sounds really good. When you finish the work will you publish the extensions to TER?
Rahul Dewan, July 9, 2009:
Hello Dick B, Dear Koki,
Yes, we’re going to be releasing the extension shortly. This is being developed by Srijan in partnership with Netcreators BV. We’re going to be announcing the release shortly. We shall inform you about the release very soon through email.
Looking forward to understand what your specific needs would be.
Regards,
Rahul
